Role
Full-stack development: design and build of the website

Dr. McIver, MD is a pediatric telemedicine practice for a child's hypothyroidism, from infants to young adults. Plainbuilt designed and built its website full stack: the Home and About pages on desktop and phone, with the hypothyroidism explainer, the symptoms, five plans by age and Book Appointment from the header to the footer. The design rests on one idea: a parent reads what the condition is, sees the plan for their child's age and books.

Who is the site for?

Parents of a child with hypothyroidism, from a newborn to a young adult under 26, who want one doctor to treat it over telemedicine. The site says so in the doctor's own words: she limits enrollment, builds a relationship with each family and stays reachable between visits, and hypothyroidism is the primary focus of her virtual clinic.

What did Plainbuilt build?

The website, full stack. The Home page runs from the hero through seven explainer sections (what hypothyroidism is and its five types, how a healthy thyroid works, the symptoms, how it is diagnosed, why treat it, who treats it and how it is treated remotely) to the doctor's section and the pricing. The About page puts the doctor's bio beside two captioned photos. A Learning page template lays out an article index: a banner photo over a grid of article cards, each with a category, a heading, an excerpt and an author. Every page has a desktop and a phone layout, and Home and About were each drawn in two variations. The navigation is Home, About Us, Pricing, Learning, the phone line and Book Appointment; the footer adds Contact, the terms, the privacy policy, an FAQ and four social links.

How does the Home page teach the condition?

In the order a parent would ask. What is hypothyroidism names the five types: congenital, autoimmune, central, transient and post surgical. How does a healthy thyroid work is one illustrated loop with the four hormones named. The symptoms band splits the signs in infants from acquired hypothyroidism and from the signs at any age. Then how it is diagnosed (from lab results), why treat it, who treats it (pediatric endocrinologists and their training) and how it is treated: remotely, with periodic lab work to keep the prescription accurate. The doctor's section and the pricing come last.

Why do the prices sit last?

Because the page has done its explaining by then. A parent who reaches the pricing section has read what the condition is, how it is treated and who the doctor is. The five plans are one per age band, priced per month, under the line Transparent, no surprise bills, and the selected plan's detail sits beside the list with a Book Appointment button of its own.

What does the site offer a parent?

Care for a child's hypothyroidism over telemedicine, from one doctor. The hero speaks in her words: care from the comfort of home, a limited patient enrollment so she can spend time with each family, and access between visits. Book Appointment and the phone line sit in the header, and the orange button repeats down the page.

How does it explain hypothyroidism?

With a diagram and a list. How a healthy thyroid works is one illustrated loop, hypothalamus to pituitary to thyroid to bloodstream, with TRH, TSH, T4 and T3 named and a one-sentence caption under it. The symptoms band separates the signs in infants from acquired hypothyroidism and from the signs at any age, beside two captioned photos.

What does care cost?

One plan per age band, priced per month, under the heading Transparent, no surprise bills. Five plans run from young infant to older teen and young adult, the age band under each name and the price at the right of the row. The selected plan has a panel beside the list with what it includes, a virtual visit every 2 to 4 weeks to review lab results and update prescriptions, and its own Book Appointment button.

Who is the doctor?

The section before pricing answers it on the green-to-yellow band: a pediatric endocrinologist practicing medicine since 2002, treating hypothyroidism since 2007, dual board certified in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology, with a focus on people under 26 and accepting new patients from infants to young adults. Her portrait sits beside the text, and Book Appointment sits under the text.

How does it read on a phone?

One column under a hamburger menu. The arched portrait sits under the header, the heading, the lede and the button follow, and each section's photos stack over its text; the thyroid diagram keeps its labels at phone width. The figure runs from the top of the page to the diagram. Further down, the plan list becomes full-width cards with the price under each name and the plan detail under the list.

The decisions

  • The doctor speaks first.

The hero is written in the first person: care from the comfort of home, a limited enrollment, access between visits. The practice is one doctor, and the page reads that way from the first line.

  • Teach before you sell.

Seven explainer sections run before the doctor and the prices: what hypothyroidism is, how a healthy thyroid works, the symptoms, how it is diagnosed, why treat it, who treats it and how. Pricing is the last section on the page.

  • Prices by age, in the open.

Five plans, one per age band, each with its age under the name and its price per month beside it, with the line Transparent, no surprise bills. The selected plan's detail sits beside the list, not on a page of its own.

  • Booking is never far.

The orange Book Appointment button sits in the header, the hero, the doctor's section, the pricing panel and the footer, with the phone line beside it in the header and under it in the footer.

Common questions

Did Plainbuilt build the Dr. McIver, MD website?

Yes. Plainbuilt designed and built the site, full stack: the Home and About pages on desktop and phone, with the hypothyroidism explainer, the plans by age and Book Appointment. The medical content and the plan prices on the screens are the practice's own.

Can Plainbuilt build a website for a medical practice?

Yes. A site that explains the condition in plain words, shows the doctor, lists the plans by age and puts booking within reach of every section. Book a working session and bring what the practice offers.
